ASIAN AMERICANS FOR EQUALITY, INC. 403(B) PLAN Contribution, Match and Other Plan Policies
- Each year, participants of the Plan may contribute up to 100 percent of pre-tax annual compensation, as defined in the Plan, up to the amount allowed under the IRS rules.
- Participants who have attained age 50 before the end of the Plan year, and who are making regular contributions, are eligible to make catch-up contributions.
- The Plan does accept rollovers and transfers from other qualified plans, but only for those employees eligible to participate in the Plan and in accordance with federal rules.
- Effective January 1, 2016, the Plan was amended to allow Roth contributions to the Plan by the employees.
- The Plan has an automatic deferral feature – if an employee does not respond to the deferral election request – the employee is deemed to have made an elective deferral election in the amount of 6% of eligible compensation to be increased in the following manner: 1% increase each year beginning the second year up to a maximum of 10%.
- If participants are employed by the Company and are making elective deferrals, the Sponsor, at its own discretion, makes a matching contribution on participants’ behalf in an amount determined by the Sponsor.
- Matching contributions are allocated to participants’ accounts each pay period.
- The Plan has a discretionary match, which is a maximum of 2% for those employees contributing a minimum of 2% to the Plan.
- In addition, the Plan provides a 1% employer annual contribution for each participant that has worked at least 1,000 hours for the year, as of January 1, 2021.
- The total value of an employee contributions balance is fully and immediately vested.
- The employer matching and non-elective employer contribution vests as follows: Years of Vesting Service % Vested Less than One Year 0% One Year but less than Two Years 20% Two Years but less than Three Years 40% Three Years but less than Four Years 60% Four Years but less than Five Years 80% Five or More Years 100%
